I must say that am lucky that I am given the opportunity to meet nice people through twitter. To name one, let me start with bro LMK,Quoting what bro LMK, twitter handheld name

@limmengkeong about writing :

“If we put constructive things up and more people read,learn and understand..we might be contributing something for good”.

That line appeared when we were having a conversation about current twitter environment.

As I’d mention before in my previous that was about twitter, for those

who had been quite a while on twitter can really feel the uneasiness on how people far people want to prove themselves until sometimes it became an exhibition, gallery of stupidity.

True bro LMK said, sometimes we do not need to justify that we are right, no point if it will end up in nothing but a conflict. We all have to learn to let go and let God.

Earlier of the day today, I got a tweet that rather puzzled.

I was in the meeting room when I read it. That tweet was NOT a reply to any of my tweets but rather just a PERSONAL ATTACK on me that appeared to that person’s 4130 follower’s home timeline and visitors of that person’s twitter profile. To reply and to mention someone in your tweets are totally two different things all together. In this case, my name was mentioned in the tweet.

To have my twitter handheld name getting the fame, partly it is kind of cool though. I would not question the motive on sending such tweet to me, if it made that person feels better writing what tweeted to me, I am glad it did. I hope it made that person’s day coz at the end of the day, it did make mine in a way! ;) No doubt, it felt good to know someone took the trouble to tweet about you to the 4k plus followers! *bliss* I was that important today :)

I could have posted the tweet on a forum, or RT or argue with that person on twitter, but hey, what can we achieve by doing that? To show that person is a loser? But really, other than that…?

My point is ladies and gentlemen, as I remind myself and all of you, be sensible when you feel like mentioning about someone in your tweet, get your facts right and try to avoid ending up sounded far from anything close to smart. ouch! ;)

It was in the Holy month of Ramadhan when I was in my car driving to work. The traffic was surprisingly heavy as usual, just as I thought it should be clearer as many started to take their raya leave. Even radio DJ like Nadia of Fly FM was already on leave at that time.

Me? I never have a hometown. My grandparents' place is here. Thus, I never got to experience the rush, the feel of 'balik kampung'.

It was just another fine morning when i turned the usual radio station that I listen to everyday. That day, the topic was on fasting. The DJ, was trying to fast or a full day. I have nothing against the idea of getting to know what is fasting all about and how does it feels to fast like a Muslim in the month of Ramadhan.

Towards building an Alliance of Civilization, it is important to understand cultural differences in order to accept one another. Parallel to our 1Malaysia concept, it is about acceptance.

So where did this good intention does not sound as good anymore?

1. As it is, fasting is a religious practice, not a racial based practice. Thus, if he really wanted to try it out, he should have gotten someone to really guide him not just on not eating and drinking, but the whole concept of fasting itself.

2. He did ask listeners to call in and helped him with the DOs and DONTs of fasting. Personally, some of his reactions and comments about it made him sound like ridiculing the practice.

3. That also include countless amount of grumbles and counting down of hours etc etc. Dear MrDJ, fasting is compulsory for us, unless exceptional cases. Are you trying to send the message on how torturous it is to fast? To begin with, NO ONE asked you to fast anyway.

4. Last but not least, during the rush hour, the dj at that time contacted our MR-fasting-dj to checkout on him. Minus all the non sense at the opening sentences..these words poked my ear the most….

“ MY BREATH SMELLS…bla bla bla. IT IS LIKE SMELLING A BAD GAS INTO MY MOUTH! “

Honestly, my ears could not bear it anymore. Yes Mr DJ, some people do have that breath especially when fasting. I would rather appreciate such comments did not surface on air at all either. Since it was just a few days before raya, many missed that part of the conversation..but for those who heard it, none claimed it was good to listen to either….

More than a year ago, I got to know about this social network that seemed very

new to me at that time.among the big names i followed was dato tony, kj,

paris hilton and some others.

At first it was real fun reading the home timeline... especially when i started

to follow news updates. It was all up to date and for me, this social network

is even nicer than FB in terms of getting live updates.

It's real time and all it needs was just to follow tweeps that give interesting

updates. time passed and things evolved as well.From tweeting on web,

I myself now tweets on my mobile.

As time passed by,more and more people are on twitter as well.

from just people plainly micro-blogging about themselves or gossiping

about others, it had now evolved into an almost a small chat sphere.

Timelines now do not seem to fill with life stories and updates,now it also

filled with grudges,slander,taunts and many non positive ones.furthermore,

nowadays tweeting reply to someone else, will also caught attention of another

tweeps that may result a sarcastic reply to you, or some other kind of replies.

It is ironic how twitter actually provide its user with UNFOLLOW option,it is

in other words telling someone u can choose to UNFOLLOW anyone if you dont feel

like reading his/her tweets. another option is the BLOCK option which you may

use. However, when people that wanted freedom of expression and so-called right

to speak up what they claimed to be the truth,started to BLOCK other who

actually reply and express to them, it's total void. My personal view, it is

just being a big time hypocrite.Euww.

Things can really get messy on twitter especially when you actually have

politicians and hardcore supporters as well. In a way, at some point, in

certain environment, twitter turned into a black and white ground.You cannot

seem to be someone in between.A general statement replied to figures, may

become a retaliation or caused uncertain reaction onto others.

Personally, it is sad to see how it's losing its balance.Some can even get

very judgemental, immature and even worse, unclever on twitter.These mighty

140 characters can really kill a person,literally.

I myself have my own ups and down in twitter. Being misunderstood,

challenged and countless sacarstic replies had been among the part of

parcel of being on twitter.

Someone once told me that, "The best people to tell stories,

are the people who tells their own stories". I guess in twitter, "The best

people for you to follow, are the people that tweets about their ownself".

Be it their rantings, experience or views...

You may get irritated, annoyed, or burning with anger on certain tweets, but

always remember, there's always options called UNFOLLOW and BLOCK.

You neither become a champ nor a loser on twitter.everyone has always

something to share, be it right,partially right or totally wrong.For me,

'debating', 'arguing', or what ever you want to call it on twitter,

is just like an angry couple arguing on sms. Well, no matter how good you think

you are, it does not really solve things..Quite a waste of time.

Well, as long as the situation permits, you will always see me on twitter with

at least a tweet a day ;)

Dada, dadi and who will not miss her ketupat palas?

Salam..

Ramadhan is reaching its end..and as always, this sad feeling will come about.
There is no other month like Ramadhan.. it's always speacial in its own way.

Today, i went to my Dadi (grandma) and Dada (grandad) grave. Both of them are from my dad's side.Dada passed away when i was a little kid.. i remembered that i could not see Dad for the last time coz my parents felt that I was too small to attend the funeral. Thus,I was sent to my baby sitter's place.I could not remember much at that time, other than waiting for my mum and dad to come and pick me up..My favourite pic with Dada holding me in his arm and I had a small fish shape multicolor sling bag. That was the picture I has with Dada, the last Raya with had together. Years after that, it was just with Dadi.

My Dadi, was a very beautiful lady. Trust me, at the very old age of hers, she still got the style ;)
She could understand and converse in Hindi well..She does not need to look at the subtitle when watching Hindi movies.That is one thing that I regretted not learning from her. Though I do picked up some Hindi words, but I do wish I could converse in Hindi, just like her. :) She could speak english, malay n hindi. My dadi was awesome.

However, as usual..being a typical human, I must admit that I took the time she was still around for granted.During her final years, I did not make much efforts to visit and spend time with her much. Yes, I was in the boarding school at that time, but looking back at that time, it should not be an excuse at all.I remembered very clearly.. that morning, when I wasin my english class in Theaterette 6. I was called out of the class to go to the office.. at that moment, I felt something
was really wrong.. When I was told that Dadi passed away, the only thing that went through my mind at that time was, oh God,please let me see her for the last time.

From Melaka,we rushed all the way to Bangsar's mosque.It felt like ages for me to reach Bangsar.. we even got stopped halfway on the highway by traffic police for speeding. At that time, I learnt that traffic police officers do have hearts.We told that we are rushing to grandma's funeral..I remembered we were very teary at that time. We got off from being summon.I reached on time, they were bathing dadi.. I got to see her. At that time, I realised that I have no
more grandparents. My dadi was the last..my grandparents on my mum's was not around way even before I was born.Aidilfitri will never be the same.The following Aidilfitri..I really missed dadi.

For those of you that still have your grandparents..cherish your time with them. When they are gone, nothing you could do to patch all the lost time with them and things that you thought you should do. It will all be just too late to regret and painful to forget.pls pls plssss love your grandparents and appreciate them well, while they are still around.

My raya routine after that...

Beraya at my house.. Go to mak wok's house (my babysitter + Godparents)..and later to Aunty Noor's place (Mum's elder sister)

Aunty Nor...

Aunty Nor..is my mum's elder sister. The best Ketupat Palas maker in town. I could really save my tummy for her ketupat palas. So far, I never get to taste another ketupat palas that is as good as hers. Two things that I really looked forward when it comes to her place, ketupat palas and her colourful apam.It tastes so good that you could take 10 in one go.Apart from all that, Aunty Nor's place had always been the meeting point of my mum's side on 1st day of raya.

Why Aunty Noor is close to heart, one thing as far I as I could remember, she's always nice to me. Never i felt intimidated or being put down by her before..Futhermore, she was a very encouraging person in her own way.She may not understand what I study, or what technical stuffs that I am talking about.. but as far as I could remember, she was never discouraging let
alone try to put me down in front of anyone. That's Aunty Nor to me.

Life had been very hectic with me during my final semester. That was even when I developed all these unwanted pimples as well. After my last paper for my final exam in May this year,I had to clear everything coz i am done for good,if everything went through. I was really tired..after my last paper, I had only 10 days to prepare my stuffs to go to Rio for the 3rd UNAOC Forum.I thought everything would be fine and should have no problem.I came back home, very charged up to prepare for Rio. That weekend, I spent my time to prepare for Rio and went for Thomas Cup as well.I slept late and intended to wake up late the following day...which was a Monday.

In the morning, my mum woke me up.. Aunty Nor fell at home, she got admitted in the hospital.I was too cranky at that time, and made my regret of the year... I did not follow mum and dad to the hospital.When they got back, they told me she fell and somehow they got to talk to her coz she was got conscious.However, later that night, things went bad.. and she was
unconscious..went into coma.That week, we were making trips to Serdang hospital almost everyday.

At that point of time, I felt so weak.. I had my sick aunt in mind, and my Rio trip to prepare.I had to juggle things up and it was not easy.On Thursday, we were told that her organs were failing..we were all praying the best for her.Solat Hajats were done and lots and lots of prayers..

On Friday 21st May 2010..right after the Zuhur's azan..she left us. We were so devastated. Since she was admitted on Monday,she was only conscious once..and after that, she was unconscious as well as sedated.I really felt the lost...One thing that always ringing in my mind when it comes to her, was one of our last conversations together.. which she told me quite repeatedly.."Aunty suka dengar aimi bercakap"- she likes it when I speak. Never knew that will be the last words
from her.When I was on Awani's Sudut Pandang, I do have her in mind. I know that she will definitely will be in front of tv to check me out to listen to me speak...if she's around.

For the first time in my life, I did not care about my birthday at all..her funeral was held on the next day which was on my birthday.The next day, her funeral was held in the morning and tahlil in the evening. I felt like crying when bro LMK made everyone sang me a birthday song when I met him and the others at the Bgsrtweetup which I had to drop by in order to complete some assignments to prepare for my Rio trip.I was just too tearful.That little deed really made my day..but it still could not take the sorrow away. That saturday night, tahlil continued..and it was even more touching when my uncle (aunty's hubby) lead the prayers and Yassin recital.A husband that every girl would dream of...

Sunday, tahlil continued..but I could not make it. Had to check on my Rio trip..my flight to Rio de Janeiro was on Monday.When the plane took off, I was such in a mixed feeling..I was not as excited as I was weeks before.I remembered sleeping almost throughout the journey.I was just too mentally and physically tired.

Now that Aunty is not around anymore..Raya will never be the same again.Miss her dearly.

This year's raya..
It'll be just my house.. and mak wok's place.on tummy note,no more ketupat palas to look forward..ask anyone whom had tasted it before,

who will not miss her ketupat palas?

Global Model United Nations

At the Global Model United Nations Conference, students from every region of the world will role play as foreign diplomats and participate in simulated sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and other multilateral bodies in the UN system. While preparing for Model United Nations conference, students develop leadership skills and research, writing, public speaking and problem solving skills that they will use throughout their lives. In addition, participation also encourages consensus building, conflict resolution and cooperation and the enhancement of leadership skills.

This year, it will be held in Kuala Lumpur, from 14-18 August 2010.
Theme: Towards an Alliance of Civilizations:
Bridging Cultures to Achieve Peace and Development

Make time to join the event as you can be the observer during the sessions as youths from all over the world discuss on working a resolution that will be passed to the UN General Assembly in September.

Youth Recommendations during the 3rd UNAOC Forum in Rio de Janeiro.

Forum title : Bridging Cultures, Building Peace.

1. As ambassadors of our own cultures, we have been hard at work constructing bridges of intercultural dialogue to alleviate common misunderstandings and stereotypes, which have often been exploited by the media. In order to overcome these problems, we must go beyond this Forum and use this educational experience in our own communities.

2. We, students of the world, believe education is a powerful means of reform. Education must be accessible to each individual and must include media literacy education. We recommend that each of you take the time to consider that our physical space is increasingly diverse and more interconnected. Education must reflect this new reality.

3. We, frequent victims of media exploitation, must be given a platform to voice our real concerns. When youth play an integral role in decision-making, they can reverse the stereotypes that can be generated by media.

4. We, ambassadors of our own cultures, demand the stamp of Human Rights Declaration in our passports so that they are respected wherever we may travel.

5. We, migrants and seekers of mobility, strongly encourage governments to base their policies on an inclusive model of coexistence.

6. We, as those most deeply affected by the current economic and social conditions, strongly recommend that social and economic protection of youth be ensured. More particularly, youth unemployment needs to be urgently addressed by the public and private sectors. Also, investments in the youth sector need to be substantially increased to allow youth to realize their full potential.

7. Following the outcomes of the Youth Event of the Istanbul Forum, and taking into consideration our commitment expressed in the Youth Event of the Rio Forum, anticipate to convene in Baku, in October 2010, for the First Convention of the Global Youth Movement for the Alliance of Civilizations. Your partnership in strengthening involvement of youth from all corners of the world in the Alliance of Civilizations is clearly needed.

8. It is easy for us to give our recommendations, but we, the youth representatives at the Rio Forum, want to assure each of you that we are also taking responsibility for these recommendations. We should each lead by example and bridge our cultures.

Feel like expressing some thoughts..
I don't think any of the anti israel rally is working or will work. It's just against the law of attraction. U see no point if we read n learn frm book n theories if we don't try to use it.
An anti israel rally will not work bcoz it'll give more energy to the israel. Mengamuk n bakar la mcm mane pun, if they want to bomb rachel corrie, nothing will stop them. I personally wud prefer a 'let rachel corrie pass' or 'save rachel corrie' protest. We're not channelling the right energy to the right way.if the whole world protest on the same way, "let rachel corrie pass" I think it'll give a better vibe. Or we ourself in msia, whole country do the same solat hajat.. Let rachel corrie pass safely. One thing at a time. Today I got how to doa fr israel laknatullah..that's not the point, we muslims r always asked to pray fr well being.
I just feel that, we should stop focusing on israel. Save rachel corrie.. Let all the ppl on board safe, n let it reach gaza safely. Last but not least, let us all arnd the world pray for palestine to be free. Nothing can break a force of the world, and may God be with us and the palestinians. We can do this, if we do it right.it's abt humanity..put aside our differences, I believe we all have something in common, which is to see another of us human being to live.
Maybe we could make a change.. Anything is possible.let the world unite fr the cause of humanity! It's not religious,it's not race..it's just being human. Let's unite!

UMNO in the cyber world

Salam all~

It had been quite a while since I last write about this prominent party in Malaysia. Needless to say, it needs no introduction. There is no doubt what they had done to the history of the country, be it good or bad, I must say, personally I have a very high respect to the party. That is only my personal view; one may or may not agree with me out of 1001 reasons. However, some chain of events that happened lately triggered me to pen down my thoughts on the party, about being in the cyber world.

Honestly, I do not know where to start. A quotation from ‘Tunggu Apa Lagi’ by Nobisha might be a good point to ponder especially for those who are really excited to be in the social media, “Di dalam media sosial, menteri dan aktivis NGO menjadi setaraf. Apa yang membezakan mereka ialah kekuatan ilmu dan hujah”. In short,how you converse your thoughts in this medium, speaks a lot about you. Putting UMNO as a subject, what the leaders, members and supporters thoughts published reflect A LOT on the party.

This is nothing personal, only my observations. NOT ALL, but SOME of the UMNO members on the cyber world can get overly excited to react over an issue. Be it court case, political dispute or current issues, there are certainly no problems on being current. However, during the death of the Hulu Selangor MP two days ago was in news, a worrying stream of FB status updates, updated by SOME. There was no grief period given, you do not need a week, but at least give it till the body is buried, as a sign of respect. Slogan of readiness to go for the by-election war started to stream status and comments. Oh well, we ,the readers, know, or at least I know all of you are VERY dedicated to the party that you would want to contribute for the coming by-election. Everyone knows it is coming, you know it is coming but it will not cost you much to be compassionate for awhile, just a grief period to mourn. It might not be your family member or party member, but please, it is still another human lost that we are regarding about. It is a lost of a husband, father and a grandfather. Is it too hard to ask? Just to show some sympathy...? hmm...

That is just a simple recent case but I feel, there are many more weaknesses that can be improved in the cyber world. Here are some points that I wish to share:

1. Defensive

- Sad to say, that there are SOME of the party members are very prone to play the defensive card.

- Why be too defensive? Can’t we actually discuss issues properly?

- Even worst, SOME even thought they are the know-it-all and Mr i-am-the-only-one-who-is-very-spirited-with-perjuangan-UMNO. Oh, thanks...those are the super annoying ones.

- Do SOME of those realise that they are shooing people away..? I don’t think so ;) So why not, stop using the defensive card. J

Outlook

- Look at the language and image that you carry. ‘Bahasa jiwa bangsa’. Why dare calling yourself a ‘pejuang bangsa’ when you cannot even portray a good ‘budi bahasa’. Statement as simple as FB status could help to explain my point.

- You want to character assassinate your opponent (though it is the dinosaur era politics), fine but please, mind your language! Don’t swear, don’t name call, it does not make you sound any better! Honestly, it is very immature.

- Learn and show respects. “Respect is earned and never through fear”. Nothing to fear about the party, maybe that is why some people can be very disrespectful towards it.

3. Language

- Again I am touching on language. The usage of language. There is a strong need to actually converse well in both BM and English. Why? From my observation, lack of proficiency in English will actually cause a communication breakdown. I had seen this happened so many times online. Not that SOME party leaders and members did not have enough knowledge to rebut an issue, BUT the language barrier made it hard to for the receiver to comprehend. Thus, will cause misinformation, lack of interest, worst still, the feeling of how out-dated SOME active members could be. One must be able to reach out well to the audience in both languages. J

4. Gratitude

- Maybe it is about time, SOME, sit down and just think how much they can actually stand the criticisms and attacks and how to actually handle praises by the potential voters out there. Personally, comments and feedbacks are supposed to be respected, especially the ones that are intended for the betterment, praises and well wishes. Again, SOME ignored the little voices. A little word of ‘thank you’, ’noted’ or at least ‘TQ’ seemed so hard to be expressed by SOME.

- Simple equation is that, how do you expect people to actually appreciate your efforts, struggle and what-ever-what-not when you cannot even learn to appreciate others? It had not been a balance equation, so why bother thinking why a lot do not seem to appreciate the government...?

5. Togetherness

- This is the ugliest view to look on. I do not need to elaborate more but all I have to say is that, no matter how bad the inner politicking is going on , please.... please... at least APPEAR to be together. It is ugly to look at members are fighting among each other.

- Another note is that, no matter how much you cannot agree with your other, especially elder party members, DO NOT bitch on social media. That will make a perfect example of a B*TCH! Even if you are a guy :P hahaha

If you happened to be a party member, reading this post.. I wish that you are not within the SOME that I am highlighting. If you somehow feel that you are among the SOME, you might not turn to try and change everything from the beginning.. BUT you can always change now and create another ending ;)

To start with..
I'm not voicing on behalf of TM, or anything. Just want to share my thoughts on it...

True, ppl reacted on the capping.. I even read some blog post on comparing prices and stating disagreement about the capping of download.

Among the blogs I came across, one actually made a comparison on unifi package n bband package in russia with no capping. the author didn't note that russia's package doesn't include iptv.

Another interesting re-tweeted even said that it's like giving a highway with a kampung road specs. wow. That's how much people can actually react into things..

From my point of view, I think.. The only reason why they introduce the capping is solely because they wanted to maintain the network performance.

The connection will work well as long as it does not reach more than 80% of your link bandwidth. high utilisation will cause your connection to slow down. thus, will trigger the expected response, "why is my Unifi connection is slow??". The simple logical reason,is because it's highly utilised.

Pls take note, ur Unifi package comes with IPTV, a constant video traffic that will accommodate ur bandwidth. hence, I ASSUME that, one of the fair reason why the capping was introduce is to make sure that the customer's line will connect n work at its best :)

**So, back on the hway with 'kampung' road specs analogy. highway here is ur fiber that is connected to ur home.

1. U can't be having a 10 lanes highway as u like, thus how wide is the highway is actually the bandwidth that u subscribe for.
2. Supposed u have a 3 lanes highway. It may look reasonable, but..ur video data (IPTV)will be taking up one of your lanes.thus, ur left with 2 lanes wide to use.
3.When left with 2 lanes wide, of course there's a limit for the number of traffic to be fit in the 2 lanes. hence, to maintain the best connection, is best to know your limit of using those 2 lanes to ensure a smooth flowing traffic :). You wouldn't want a traffic jam on a highway right?! ;)

Oh well, let's go to LDP toll during rush hour..and close half of the toll gates. It'll b a massive jam! ;) even worse, close a lane on MRR2! Let's see the fun! Yeay! ;)
No cars can actually move more than 30km/h. that's when an empty narrow kampung road will be nicer to drive on~ ;)

So now that the capping is off, I hope more will actually subscribe to it. IF that's the main reason hampering one to turn away fr Unifi. The pricing, well..it's committed information rate, babeyh~ That's what u asked for ;)

HSBB is a project that is intended to benefit us..and it is not an easy project to carry out. a lot of hard works and time poured into this. give it a chance, give it a try. for those fortunates 4 areas, I'm pretty sure it's gonna change your daily life in one way or another :)

For all new things,there's always room for improvements. we just have to be positive and supportive of it.looking on the brigther side, we should be grateful that,there are actions taken into improving network connections in Malaysia. Have fun wit the new connection ! :)
